Template Synthesis, Spectroscopic Characterization, Microbial Properties and Antifertility Effects of Macrocyclic Complexes of Lead (II)

摘要
A new series of macrocyclic lead(II) complexes of the type [Pb(Mac(n))X-2] (where n = 1-4 and X = Cl and NO3) has been prepared by the condensation reaction of malonic acid, succinic acid, glutaric acid or adipic acid with benzildihydrazone in presence of lead ions as templates in methanolic medium. The complexes have been characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molecular weight determinations, IR, (HNMR)-H-1, (CNMR)-C-13, and Pb-207 NMR spectral studies. All the complexes have octahedral geometry around the central metal atom. The biological activities of the lead salts and their metal complexes have been tested in vitro against a number of pathogenic fungi and bacteria to assess their growth inhibiting potential. The antifertility effects of the complexes were also discussed, with positive findings.
