Resistance to localized corrosion of passive films on a duplex stainless steel

摘要
The passivation and the resistance to pitting corrosion of a 21%Cr-7%Ni-2%Mo-2%Mn-1%Cu duplex stainless steel in neutral and alkaline buffered solutions, with and without chloride tons, was studied using electrochemical techniques. Results are explained through changes in the structure and composition of the passive layer during the anodization process, The presence of sodium chloride (NaCl) enhanced metal electrodissolution through the passive layer, this effect being more pronounced at either lower pH values or higher chloride concentrations.
