Consider an abelian variety defined over a global field and let be a -extension, unramified outside a finite set of places of , with . Let denote the Iwasawa algebra. In this paper, we study how the characteristic ideal of the -module , the dual -primary Selmer group, varies when is replaced by a strict intermediate -extension.
