implementation of a high explosive equation of state into the Eulerian hydrocode CTH [1] is described. The equation of state is an extension to JWL [2] refer-red to as JWLB [3], and is intended to model the thermodynamic state of detonation products from a high explosive reaction. The EOS was originally cast in a form p = p(rho, e), where p is the pressure, rho is the density and e is the internal energy. However, the target application code requires an EOS of the form p = p(rho, 7), where T is the temperature, so it was necessary to reformulate the EOS in a thermodynamically consistent manner. A Helmholtz potential, developed from the original EOS, insures this consistency. Example calculations are shown that illustrate the veracity of this implementation.
