Evidence for a glassy phase in the vortex state of 2H-NbSe2

摘要
We have measured the DC response and RF surface impedance of 2H-NbSe2 single crystals in fields up to 2 Tesla. The results suggest that there are two distinct states of the vortex lattice; one is ordered, the other disordered. The disordered state is formed by supercooling a flux liquid state into a metastable strongly pinned configuration. The lattice is annealed into its ordered equilibrium configuration upon application of a sufficiently strong current. The annealing process exhibits long relaxation times, which is suggestive of glassy behavior.
