摘要
Road traffic sign detection and recognition, as an intelligent transportation system, is playing an increasingly important role for road safety. In this paper, a robust and real-time method is presented to identify and detect the road speed signs in road image. First, detection of image processing and road traffic signs is on the basis of a priori information on the shape. Edge detection and mathematical morphology method create connectivity component. Second, the RGB and HSV color space conversion are used in image processing. Finally, it preprocess the character image of detected traffic signs, which included segmentation of the character area, image normalization process, and using BP neural networks for image recognition.
