The Comparative Study of Tree Drawing Test on Chinese College Students and African Students

摘要
Objective: To compare the results of the Tree Drawing Test with different cultural backgrounds between African students and Chinese students, understand the impact of different cultures on human emotions and other psychological characteristics; provide a scientific method on controlling emotional intelligence training for the effective, mental health education and psychological counseling. Methods: The College Overseas Education of Jiangsu University Grade one 39 African students were randomly selected from 84 students, at the same time the College Medicine Clinical of Jiangsu University Grade three 136 students were randomly selected from 317 students, then took part in the Tree Drawing Test, followed by comparative analysis. Results: According to the standard score of Denise de Castilla, there are significant differences between African students' paintings and Chinese students' in the trunk: [(2.1+/-1.6) vs. (1.9+/-1.6); P=0.028]; also there are significant differences in nervousness between African students and Chinese students: [(1.5+/-1.3) vs. (1.1+/-1.0); P=0.042]. Conclusion: There are significant differences between African students and Chinese students in some characteristics of the Tree Drawing Test, especially in the work candid, emotional self-control, and other aspects of psychological defense. People of different cultures on the formation of the psychological characteristics have different effects.
