Computer Applications: Managing Serials Workflow at the University of the West Indies Library

This article addresses the consistent themes surrounding management of serials including the importance of periodicals to libraries, maintenance of serials records, the structure and organization of serials workflow and staffing of the serials department and the implications that computer applications have on the management of serials work. The increasing challenges brought on by the advent of new technologies in serials work are discussed. The impact on staffing and their education to participate effectively in the workflow process, at the University of the West Indies, (Mona) Libraries arc discussed.
