摘要
The mechanical behaviour of rocks subjected to high strain-rates and different kind of stresses is of fundamental importance for reliable material failure models for several fields of engineering as tunnelling, excavation, rock bursts, and blasts. The main purpose of this paper is to present the mechanical characterization of rocks by means of a modified Hopkinson bar. Special set-ups for testing rock specimens at high strain-rate in tension and compression are presented. Finally some results at high strain-rate in tension and compression are reported.
