Study of Microhardness of Ceramic Coatings Formed on 6061 Aluminum Alloy by Micro-arc Oxidation

摘要
To improve the low hardness and poor wear resistance of 6061 aluminum, ceramic coatings are obtained by in situ micro-arc oxidation coating growth on the 6061 Al alloy substrate. Phase composition, morphology, elemental component and microhardness were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-raydiffraction (XRD), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and microhardness instrument. The results showed that micro-arc oxidation ceramic coatings were composed of gamma-Al2O3. The content of gamma-Al2O3 was increased with the oxidation time increasing. When the oxidation time was 90 min, mullite and alpha-Al2O3 were found in ceramic coatings. The microhardness of the ceramic coatings increased with the oxidation time increasing, microhardness reached up to 1812HV when the oxidation time was 120 min.
