An improved Two-Transistor Forward Converter with Integrated Magnetics

摘要
The large output current ripple impairs the performance of Two-Transistor Forward Converter (TTFC). Due to the ac flux positive coupling of the inductor and transformer, the output current ripple can be reduced. The improved TTFC with integrated magnetics is proposed in this paper. The operation principle of the proposed converter is analyzed in detail along with the effect of the IM on the primary and output current ripples. The condition of the minimum output current ripple and the corresponding design consideration for the integrated magnetics are discussed. Two 850W/200kHz TTFC prototypes, with integrated magnetics and without, are built to verify the effectiveness of the analysis.
