摘要
Recent progress in the life sciences, in the theory of complex systems, and in computers, allow a new approach to understanding and/or predicting nature, very much inspired by physics. Modelling natural objects has become possible. Moreover, because of man's impact on the environment, it has also become a necessity. This note tries to convince researchers in the life sciences that modelling should not be frightening, and that it can be very useful.
