Analysis of subsynchronous resonance in a multi-machine power system using series compensation

摘要
The action of several series capacitors in lines electrically close to each other is investigated using eigenvalue analysis. The IEEE 14-bus five-machine system is used with capacitors added. The multi-machine model of the system includes the turbine-generator rotor and shaft dynamics and the machine stator and network transients. It is shown that capacitors in different lines excite torsional effects in the generators at different frequencies. They do not have a cumulative effect at any one frequency. (c) 2006 Elsevier Ltd.
