Report on education and training in geo-engineering sciences in the United States of America

The state of geo-engineering (usually referred to as geotechnical engineering) education in the USA is discussed. Information is provided on the undergraduate education including the admissions process, the accreditation system for undergraduate education, and subjects covered at the undergraduate level. Graduate level (master's and doctoral) education is also described including course work and research. Recent changes in the accreditation process have resulted in fewer required and more elective geotechnical courses. Geotechnical engineering education is always in flux as educators respond to various pressures from within and outside of academia.
