摘要
A year has past since the Virtual University (VU) project began, which is developed and supported by the United Nations. Over the past several years the authors concentrated on researching the most effective teaching methods for distance learning. In this paper, the system configuration of the VU is introduced. Several operational problems that used to be a bottleneck for the distance learning especially in developing countries are solved. Based on the actual data-flow throughout a day, the best management of the proxy server is proposed. The satellite communication systems for Internet connection will be focused for the implementation of the VU. Also, the hardware/software and the funding to deliver a better quality of service in developing countries is considered.
