Switching behavior of single nanoscale permalloy wires studied with magnetoresistance

摘要
Magnetoresistance measurements are performed at 2, 4.2 and 300 K on single nanoscale permalloy (Py) wires of widths (w) ranging from 0.47 to 10.4 mum. The magnetization reversal process in transverse magnetic field is discussed in terms of coherent spin rotation and in longitudinal magnetic field the switching field depends linearly on the reciprocal width indicating an incoherent magnetization reversal.
