To investigate the risk, biology and outbreak of oriental fruit fly Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel) in ZheJiang Province, we used a traditional fruit loquat and its three varieties, Jiajiao(JJ), Yangdun(YD) and Dahongpao(DHP), and each variety comprised four ripeness stage to sutdy the relationship between loquat cultivars and the development and survival of B. dorsalis. The results indicated that there was a significant relationship between different ripe stages of loquat and larva duration of B. dorsalis. There was species characteristics within loquat cultivars among duration of larva and/or pupa, and the weight of puparium; while the weight of pupa, female and male adults had positive correlation with the variety of the loquat cultivars. This experiment had also found it is disadvantage to the generation transforming when the content of loquat's soluble solid and titratable acid was too low or too high. Through the analysis of the survival, pupation and emergence rates of the oriental fruit fly, it showed that variety YD with 60%-70% maturity level fit the development of fruit flies best.Therefor, the performance of loquat fruits had a very close relationship with the development of the B. dorsalis.
