EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS OF THE REPEATABILITY AND ACCURACY OF THE IMPACT EXCITATION OF VIBRATION TECHNIQUE FOR PRISMATIC STEEL SAMPLES

摘要
Measurement of the lowest resonance frequencies for several steel parallelepipeds of different aspect ratios allows analyzing the repeatability of the technique, as well as the influence of the sample geometry on the obtained elastic moduli and wave speeds. In particular, we show that standard expressions for the elastic moduli as functions of the sample dimensions and measured resonance frequencies are not adequate for accuracy better than 1% unless the sample dimensions are chosen in an appropriate way.
