摘要
Hydromorphology has been a central issue for the application of the Water Framework Directive in recent years. In France, several tools are under development to monitor and analyse the hydromorphology of rivers. CARHYCE is one of these tools. It proposes solutions for quantifying the alteration of rivers and provides guidelines for restoration works. This tool is based on a standardised field protocol applied to a large number of river reaches throughout the French territory, and on a very rich data base. Collected and calculated data allow statistical trends of hydraulic geometry to be defined at a national and regional scale. This is used to build spatial and dynamic hydromorphological framework reference models. The reference models are still under development but may constitute a management tool to evaluate river alteration and support its restoration.
