摘要：
This progress report sets out a range of problems with, and prospects for, the integration of diverse datasets and data structures within GIS. In particular, we discuss GIS-based simplifications intrinsic to (a) creating geographical indicators; (b) areal aggregation issues; (c) combining geographical data from different sources; and (d) updating GIS databases. The JEC-EGI conference presentation will develop these themes using case study material from recent research.
