The purpose of this article is to numerically investigate the expressions for reflection/transmission coefficients and lateral shift, for both TE and TM polarizations, due to a planar interface of lossy, dispersive, dielectric-magnetic uniaxial left-handed metamaterial. To accomplish the objective we, first, analyse the corresponding case for lossless metamaterial, and then extend the study by introducing dielectric and/or dielectric-magnetic losses using the Lorentz-Drude medium model. Change in behaviour of reflection/transmission coefficients and lateral shift as a function of incidence angle and dielectric and/or magnetic losses is noted. It is highlighted that by introducing appropriate extent of losses using Lorentz-Drude medium model, amount of lateral shift can be controlled effectively to meet the requirements.
