摘要
Cation diffusion through a sulfonated polyamide membrane driven by the chemical potential gradient of the hydrogen ion is studied. There are three stages in this process, which differ substantially in the ionic transport rate. The cation diffusion coefficients are calculated. At the first stage, the diffusion coefficient of the hydrogen ion depends on the hydroxide ion concentration in solution. Ion diffusion through inorganic and organic ion exchangers occurs by similar mechanisms.
