Perpendicular magnetic properties of Fe/Tb multilayered films

摘要
We have measured X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) spectra at the Fe K-edge and Tb L-2-, L-3-edges. The magnetic moments of Fe do not have Tb thickness dependence in the multilayers. However the orbital moments of Tb 5d disappear in the thin Tb layer. This observation implies that the Tb moment is not responsible for the perpendicular anisotropy of Fe-Tb systems.
