Electronic structure studies of carbon nanotubes: Aligned, doped and filled

摘要
High-energy spectroscopies play an essential role in the characterization of the electronic structure of carbon nanostructures. In this contribution we report recent electronic structure studies of single-wall carbon nanotubes using electron energy-loss and photoemission spectroscopy. In particular, we have investigated the polarization dependence of interband and collective electronic excitations in singlewall carbon nanotubes. Futhermore, we have studied the character of the electron liquid in metallic undoped and doped carbon nanotubes. Finally, we have obtained information regarding the charge transfer between nanotubes and C-60 in so-called peapods, i.e. nanotubes filled with C-60 molecules.
