Seven new steroidal glycosides, named torvosides A-G, were isolated from the aerial parts and from the roots of Solanum torvum. Their structures were characterized as (25S)-26-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl)-5 alpha-furostan-3 beta,6 alpha,22 xi,26-tetraol 6-O-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 --> 3)-beta-D-quinovopyuranoside], (25S)-26-O-(beta-D-glucopyranosyl)-22 alpha-methoxy-5 alpha-furostan-3 beta,6 alpha,26-triol 6-O-[beta-D-xylopyranosyl-(1 --> 3)-beta-D-quinovopyranoside], neosolaspigenin 6-O-[alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 --> 3)-beta-D-quinovopyranoside], neosolaspigenin 6-O-[beta-D-xylopyranosyl-(1 --> 3)-beta-D-quinovopyranoside], (25S)-26-O-(beta-D-glucopyranosyl)-6 alpha,26-dihydroxy-22 alpha-methoxy -5 alpha-furostan-3-one 6-O-(beta-D-quinovopyranoside), (25S)-26-O-(beta-D-glucopyranosyl)-6 alpha,26-dihydroxy-22 alpha-methoxy-5 alpha-furostan-3-one 6-O-[beta-D-xylopyranosyl-(1 --> 3)-beta-D-quinovopyranoside], and (25S)-26-hydroxy -22 alpha-methoxy-5 alpha-furostan-3-one 26-O-(beta-D-glucopyranoside), respectively.
