摘要
RF-power amplifiers are used in a variety of applications including radio and TV transmitters, wireless communications, satellite communication systems and RF-power heating. Power efficiency and amplifier linearity are two key parameters which play a significant role in the design of modern power amplifiers. It is well known that driving the amplifier into its non-linear region, e.g. Class C operation, may improve efficiency, but it will also lead to increased distortion. This article examines the trade-off between efficiency and linearity quantitatively and advances a useful design rule.
