Six coordination compounds of Ag(l) and 2,4-diamino-6-[2-(2-methyl-1-imidazolyl)ethyl]-1,3,5-triazine (L, Ag:L = 1:2) with different anions and solvents, namely, [Ag(L)(2)]center dot(NO3)center dot 4(H2O) (1), [Ag(L)(2)]center dot 1/2(nds)center dot(MeOH)center dot(H2O) (2, H(2)nds = 1,5-naphthalenedisulfonic acid), [Ag(L)(2)]center dot 1/2(nds)center dot (MeOH)center dot 5/2(H2O) (3), [Ag(L)(2)]center dot 1/2(nds)center dot(CH3CN) (4), [Ag(L)(2)]center dot(ClO4)center dot(MeOH)center dot(H2O) (5), and [Ag(L)(2)] center dot(ClO4)center dot 2(H2O) (6), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, PXRD and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. In these compounds, each Ag(I) ion is ligated by two imidazole nitrogens to form a Ag(L)(2) unit. The anions and solvents determine hydrogen-bonding between the DAT groups links the Ag(L)(2) units whether to form chains in 1 and 2 or layers in 3-6. In addition, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and luminescent properties of these compounds were also investigated. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
