摘要
This article studies El sexto (1961) by Jose Maria Arguedas. Our objective is to show how in the diegesis of this novel it is proposed that capitalism uses the prison and some of the inmates locked up in this place to subdue, control and punish those who dare to oppose their influence in Peru. In this sense, it is not just a prison novel, which evokes a particularly heartbreaking experience, but a political text that highlights the strategies, instruments and mechanisms used to break the will of the individuals insurrected to said system.
