THE JURISDICTIONALIZATION OF LAW IN SUB-REGIONAL SPACES IN AFRICA

The importance of supranational jurisdictions in the sub-regional areas in Africa leads us to question on the one hand the originality of this ‘regional jurisdictional fact’ and on the other hand the jurisdictionalisation of law on the continent. The role of these supranational jurisdictions deserves to be put into perspective with that of national jurisdictions in order to question the place of the normative power of judges. The article is an invitation to reflect on the rise of a judiciary on the African continent that encompasses national and international jurisdictions. © Edinburgh University Press.
