摘要
The luminescence properties of Ca3Al2O6 doped with rare earth Sm3+ and Tb3+ prepared by self propagating combustion synthesis has been reported. The powdered X-ray diffraction study indicates the formation of desired phase of the sample. The photoluminescence study of Ca3Al2O6:Sm3+ reveals the orange - red emission at 567 nm and 603 nm monitored at 407 nm excitation wavelength, attributed to (4)G(5/2) -> H-6(5/2), H-6(7/2) transition of rare earth Sm3+. The Ca3Al2O6:Tb3+ phosphor gives characteristics emission corresponding to wavelength 419nm, 440 nm, 489nm and 545 nm wavelength when excited by wavelength of 379 nm in the UV region of electromagnetic spectrum. These emission wavelengths are characteristics of 5d -> 4f transition of rare earth Tb3+ namely D-5(3) -> F-7(5), F-7(4) and D-5(4) -> F-7(6), F-7(5). The results indicate that the Sm3+ and Tb3+ activated Ca3Al2O6 phosphor has promising applications in the field of ecofriendly solid state lighting. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
