摘要
The most optimal methods of treatment of pain in infants in the neonatal intensive care unit are prevention and elimination of painful treatments and therapies. When these methods are not realistic or possible, pain needs to be minimized as much as possible using strategies supported by the most rigorously obtained research evidence. In this article, a broad range of pharmacologic, behavioral, and environmental pain management interventions are critically reviewed. The comparative efficacy and safely of the various strategies, used alone or in combination, are evaluated.
