摘要:
"Understanding Homophobia in Our Forefathers" models a way to approach historic papers like Miller's, which while containing useful information, also remind us of the ways psychoanalysis injured those it intended to help. Mores have changed, but human nature has not, and we are always at risk of acting on our fears or imposing our prejudices on others. At this point in history an important goal of psychoanalytic education should be helping candidates understand the power of the analyst's position and the ways psychoanalytic aims can be perverted by societal pressures and the analyst's blind spots.
