摘要
Material selection means to select some kind of material which can both meet the structural requirements and reduce cost so as to get the greatest economic interest. This selected material should also be suitable to the environmental conditions and accord with the resources supply. Compared with the other aspects of products design, material selection is the most essential part. Material selection for design is a complex process. It is necessary to construct a system for matching principles of material selection in product design, to ensure it to reach an appropriate goal. This system requires the designer to take into consideration social, economic and technological factors from the perspective of the design itself. It also requires the designer to take the initiative to select, so as to reach the goal of "Shi".
