The modern nation-state in contemporaneity: a new Geopolitcs

The recent "new socio-political regime", which has metamorphosed the political debates on social relationships in the state public arena, has followed as a consequence of the adamant defense of the law of the market. However, Vie modem Nation-State has not disappeared as it had been heralded by the neoliberals. One can argue that the idea of territory as basis of the State, and network logics as basis of neoliberalism oppose, contradict, yet complement themselves simultaneously. Presently, in a nonlinear/non-cartesian context, researchers have re-visited classic Geopolitics. From a new, more in-depth critic of its territories/societies control practices under totalitarian, dictatorial or apparently democratic regimes, a new Geopolitics is born, now based on the human being challenge to build a democratic and cosmopolitan life on the planet Earth.
