Wear behavior of rapidly solidified (2024Al)-20Si-5Fe alloy

摘要
A rapidly solidified (2024Al)-20Si-5Fe powder alloy has been prepared by two-stage atomization with water-cooling. The microstructure characteristics and wear behaviors have been investigated with electron microanalysis and wear test. The principal test results show that the rapidly solidified alloy has finer microstructure and higher wear resistance, as well as good anti-attrition than those of the cast alloys with the similar composition. The main wear-out-failure ways of the rapidly solidified alloy are grain-abrasion and fatigue wear, but for the cast alloy the main ways are grain-abrasion, sticking wear and oxidizing wear.
