Literary Comparatism in North Macedonia: Orientations and Tendencies

This paper follows the evolutive path of the literary comparatism in North Macedonia, gives an overview of the discipline's current condition and considers the perspectives of possible future development. It studies the stages which, ever since the introduction of this method in the intellectual and academic milieu, point to the processes of institutionalization, the cooperation projects, the theoretical preoccupations, and establishes that there is a progressive approximation of the literary studies to the culture studies, in an effort for harmonization of the scientific thought with the cultural mission. Namely, the interest about phenomena put in correlation through an "inter-": interliterarity, intertextuality, interculturality, intermediality..., undergoes through a change in the last years and notes a new orientation which privileges the transversality as method of analysis, which then manifests in the study of the literature as transnational and of the theory as transcendental.
