Crystallization of supercooled liquid of selenium:: The comparison of kinetic analysis of both isothermal and non-isothermal DSC data

摘要
Isothermal crystallization of supercooled melt of selenium was studied in a wide temperature range by means of differential scanning calorimetiy (DSC). Isothermal crystallization of selenium was described by Johnson-Mehl-Avrami (JMA) model, the JMA kinetic exponent was found to be similar to 3.5. The activation energy of isothermal crystallization was determined E-a=83 kJ/mol. The non-isothermal crystallization of selenium was also studied and the results of kinetic analysis of non-isothermal data were compared with results obtained from isothermal measurements. The applicability of currently used method of kinetic analysis of non-isothermal data is discussed. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
