GENETIC DIVERGENCE STUDIES FOR YIELD AND ITS COMPONENTS IN RICE (ORYZA SATIVA L.) ACCESSION

摘要
The nature and magnitude of genetic divergence was estimated in 100 genotypes of rice accession to using Mahalanobis D(2) statistics. The genotypes were grouped into 10 clusters showing fair degree of relationship between agro-morphological variation and genetic divergence. The higher inter cluster distance was in between cluster 11 and cluster V followed by cluster VII and cluster I, cluster IX and cluster II and cluster III and cluster II. The lowest inter cluster distance was found between cluster III and cluster I. Thus, in the present study the better genotypes were identified in respect to most of the characters on the basis of mean performance in the cluster. The best genotypes in the present study for seed yield per plant are Veerhuli, Jaldubi and Lohandi and for harvest index the superior genotypes are Kaveri, Kansari and IT.
