Industrial policy roadmap for Turkey This paper propose an industrial policy approach for Turkey to be adopted during the global crisis. The first section reviews recent discussions about the rise of protectionism as a result of global crisis, the need to boost domestic demand and calls for adopting a sector specific industrial policy The second section includes a summary of debates on the success of sector specific policies in the past and the changes in industrial policy. Third section reviews the industrial performance of Turkey with a specific emphasis on technological classification. Fourth section suggests the adoption of an EU type industrial policy that aims to remove the barriers for the development of industrial sectors. It is argued that the proposed policy will help to support domestic demand in the short term while improving the competitiveness of industry in the long term.
