摘要
In an urban environment, drivers have to yield to many other road users. This is still a difficult challenge for autonomous vehicles and could be facilitated by reducing the number of permissive turnings at signalised intersections. If autonomous vehicles were segregated at a presignal, they could be given exclusive protected movements. Other traffic streams could still be signalled permissively. An analytical model has been developed here based on the constraints of this intersection operation mode in order to estimate its capacity given a specific set of circumstances (the configuration of the traffic signal program and layout of the infrastructure). The model is used to maximise capacity depending on the position of the presignal. (C) 2019 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
