摘要
Rapid economic development and large scale construction activities in Shenzhen, China have produced large amount of construction wastes all around the city in the past two decades. However, the majority of the generated wastes have not been well processed, which has become a pressing problem resulting in severe damage to the environment and industry sustainability. Therefore, implementation of construction waste management strategies in Shenzhen is in urgent need. With this in mind, this paper aims to introduce the present situation of construction waste in Shenzhen and investigates the effectiveness of the existing waste reduction measures. A structured questionnaire survey was conducted. The main focus of this paper is to describe the views of construction industry participators on the effectiveness of each existing waste reduction measure and major barriers in implementing waste reduction strategies in Shenzhen. The outcomes of this paper can serve as valuable references for the Shenzhen government and contractors to develop effective construction waste reduction strategies within the construction industry.
