Big Data, the new Paradigm of the Information Society

These days Big Data is a popular term used to describe the boom, availability and analysis of structured and unstructured information. Big data is a key phenomenon of today's information society. Everyday a huge amount of data is collected from online commerce, web-browsing, social media, and health-related activities. Big Data sets challenges and provides opportunities for government, science and business. This paper attempts to paint a global picture about Big Data, and to present its definitions and the road so far. It also address myriad challenges in the handling of Big Data sets, such as privacy, accuracy, and security.
