Isosteric gas-chromatographic characteristics for the retention of water and isopropanol on polyvinyltrimethylsilane

摘要
The sorption isotherms and isosteric characteristics for the retention water and isopropanol on polyvinyltrimethylsilane (PVTMS) are measured by gas chromatography. The surface of the polymer layer is non-uniformly filled by the sorbates with the formation of multilayer clusters. Water interacts with PVTMS only via adsorption forces, whereas isopropanol, accumulating at the places of primary sorption, modifies the polymer structure so as to open transport pathways.
