摘要
This paper presents the evolutionary history of development of a new single set of uniform building codes in the United States, and outlines the impact of these new provisions on wood design and construction. The first international Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC) are scheduled for publication in the year 2000. Both are being developed by the International Codes Council (ICC), a new entity formed by the three U.S. model building code agencies. The IBC and IRC will contain revisions to existing code requirements and new provisions that will impact wood design and construction. Possible benefits of the new codes will also be discussed.
