Development of a novel snubber circuit for on-load GTO assisted tap changer

摘要
This paper investigates the performance of a novel snubber circuit designed for GTO assisted on-load tap changer circuits. The performance of the new snubber is compared with that of conventional circuits. It is shown that the proposed snubber provides effective protection for the switching device under all circuit conditions, and is considered suitable for switching non-zero currents in circuits of variable inductance.
