摘要
Competencies can be referred to as knowledge and skills which a teacher possesses and helps them to become successful. It is very important that the teacher maximizes the expertise through a wider array of competencies in a complex environment where there is a requirement of critical decision making at every step-in work life. This study is based on assessment of "K-6 teacher competency model"utilized in the engineering professional development among teachers. On the basis of literature review available in engineering and general education, this study has utilized "K-6 teacher competency model" for teaching in the engineering stream. This model has seven dimensions: "engineering concept knowledge"; "engineering skills; knowledge about engineering disciplines"; "engineering pedagogical content knowledge"; "attitudes toward engineering"; "attitudes toward teaching engineering" and "integration of engineering with other subjects". The perception of the teachers has been understood which is based on their response towards various competencies. The K-6 teacher competency model has been assessed using Kmskal Wallis test and based on this, hypothesis has been accepted or rejected. In the result indicated, there is a significant impact of K-6 teacher competency model on improvement in engineering education.
