P-adaptive methods for electromagnetic wave problems using hierarchal tetrahedral edge elements

摘要
P-adaption improves the quality of a finite element solution by selectively increasing the polynomial order of the elements. P-adaptive schemes are proposed for use with recently developed vector edge elements up to order 4 in computing the scattering matrices of microwave devices. The schemes are tested on three problems: a capacitively terminated parallel-plate waveguide, a metal post in a rectangular waveguide, and a two-cavity rectangular waveguide filter.
