Low-frequency internal waves in the near-shore zone of the Japan Sea

摘要
The data of instrumental measurements of variations in the temperature and current velocity in the near-shore zone of the Japan Sea are analyzed. The measurements were taken from an autonomous buoy station situated near the Gamov Peninsula. It is found that the field of internal waves in this region represents a super-position of a tidal internal gravity wave (IGW) and boundary internal gravity waves. It is shown that tidal oscillations in hydrologic parameters have a clearly defined baroclinic nature. A combined analysis of the spectrum of variations in these parameters and the spectrum of the IGW linear vertical operator has revealed their good agreement. It is found that internal waves in the near-shore zone of the Japan Sea have a multimode (up to five modes), polyharmonic structure.
