摘要
Cascaded ac-dc converter is widely used in the first stage of solid state transformer (SST). The study of various operation modes of the cascaded ac-dc converter will help to understand the operation possibilities of the SST system. This paper studies the effect of an undetected fault in medium voltage (MV) side of a solid state transformer in terms of grid voltage, grid current, power factor and efficiency. The fault scenarios on ac-dc converter is studied and the controller response is evaluated using emulation result on a real-time emulator. An alternative operation mode of the ac-dc converter when the fault occurs is also proposed and demonstrated using emulation results.
