Economic Hegemony in Question at the Beginning of the 21st century

The paper deals with the problems of hegemony. There are discussed two approaches to hegemony: hegemony from below and hegemony from above. As for the hegemony from below - it is expressed by various attributes: total GDP, GDP per capita, a position in world trade, in trade in services etc. The hegemony from above includes the world currency, position in world organisations, military dominance, etc. One of the important characteristics is outbound and inbound direct investments. In the complexity, the hegemony includes hard, soft, and sticky power. When we consider the current world we can state that there is one state which meets all three powers: the United States of America. And no other state is able to replace it in its position. At the same time, we must admit that the US position has been decreasing in the long run.
